While Ametrine can sometimes be acquired by heat treating part of a traditional Amethyst to change its purple to an orange color, these stones are completely unaltered and contain natural colors and mixtures.

This gem only exists in Bolivia — where different oxidation states and temperature gradients during the crystals formation.
